AGENDA:

1. Pay Equity for Women

   Can NYC's upcoming Pay Transparency Law close the gender wage gap in the City? How wide is the gender pay differential? The committee will address these crucial issues with top-flight speakers, including State Sen., Jessica Ramos, chair of the State Senate's Committee on Labor; former City Council Member Helen Rosenthal, author of NYC's Salary Transparency Law; Gloria Middleton, president of Communications Workers of America, Local 1180; and  Beverly Neufeld, president of PowHer New York.

   Nationally, women earn a median 83 cents for every dollar a man is paid. Honoring International Women's Month--and the March 15 Equal Pay Day--the session will explore the status of pay equity in NYC. We'll assess the likely impact of the new Salary Transparency Law and what further steps are needed to ensure fair wages for women.
