As part of Community Board 8's efforts to keep you updated on the Legionnaires' Disease outbreak in our community, we are writing to share this press release from the Health Department identifying 32 cooling towers with positive results for Legionella bacteria and outlining the steps to clean and disinfect all the affected towers.

Legionnaires’ Disease on the Upper East Side
As of Wednesday, July 8, 2026, the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene continues to investigate a cluster of Legionnaires' Disease cases in Yorkville and Carnegie Hill, covering ZIP codes 10075, 10028, and 10128, as well as the east side of Central Park between 76th and 97th Streets.

CB8 Seeks Designer for New Logo
Community Board 8 Manhattan (CB8M), which represents the Upper East Side of Manhattan and Roosevelt Island, is seeking a graphic artist to create a logo for the Board. That design will appear on the Board’s website, as well as on materials that publicize the Board’s activities.

Queensboro Bridge Lane Closures Through November 26, 2025
The Department of Transportation will continue the replacement of the Queensboro Bridge upper deck with nighttime, single lane closures in each direction as per the schedule below until Saturday, November 26th. These lane closures are restricted to the nighttime, however, there will be single-lane, rolling closures in the daytime to drop off material as required.
