This form of violence has worsened with the pandemic. And it affects families-especially women and children-- across the socio-economic spectrum. At this October session, CB8 will commemorate Domestic Violence Awareness Month by addressing domestic violence, both nationally and in our own community.
Will intimate partner violence continue to worsen? Specifically, who is at risk? What more can we do to alleviate this pernicious problem? Expert speakers will address domestic violence trends, nationally, and locally. Speakers will provide data on domestic violence trends, as well as explaining why intimate partner violence affects people of all incomes and ages and where victims can get help.
Childcare at community board meetings.
The City Council had proposed legislation (Int. 0526-2022) that would have required childcare to be available during certain public meetings. These meetings might have included community board sessions. Although the Council has just rescinded this childcare bill, the issue has been a concern in our community. We will discuss whether and how community boards could provide childcare at meetings and make recommendations to the City Council.
