Protecting Abortion Rights

The committee will address the imperiled right to an abortion--and how to respond, especially in New York. Expert speakers will provide national as well as New York State-wide perspectives on the possible overturning of Roe v. Wade. How would such a ruling impact a woman's right to choose? And, as a spillover effect, how might it effect women's rights, broadly?

As featured speakers, State Sen. Liz Krueger and Assembly Member Rebecca Seawright will cover Albany's efforts to preserve and expand abortion rights. Susan Appleton, a law professor at Washington University and a national expert on women's rights, will examine the national threat to a woman's right to choose.
